How is UX Design impacting the world?

When we think about UX, we usually fall into the idea that it is a technical and systemized procedure, but UI/UX Design Glossary describes it as the general attitude and emotional feedback that a user has at different stages of using the product. That is why it is expected that User Experience design has a large impact on the tech future.

“We must change the way we measure success. We don’t measure if what we’re doing is good or bad. That’s immoral.”Don Norman

Here are 5 main points we have identified as important and relevant to understand how UX design is adapting to actual needs and constructing the future.

1. Model change

Nowadays, companies are focusing more on how they can serve the customer rather than selling something to them. With this new model, the product becomes the experience that you provide to each customer. Here is where UX/UI enters the equation. As UX Design evolves, any industry evolves with it because it is merely focused on the experience created rather than the individual composition of the product.

2. Sustainability

Design has always been related to the opposite of environmentally friendly but when we are analyzing the UX design process we are able to find that in the long run, it is helping to avoid using “too much” products (such as screens, plastic devices, remote controls, etc.) by creating new useful methods. Voice guided interfaces or even virtual reality to control and manage many devices.

This will result in fewer products fabricated and needed and will lead to a generation of companies that are able to adapt their production to enter the market of quality products rather than quantity. The way UX adds to this change is by making sure less product does more for the user.

3. Accessibility

User design research will allow diverse users to have a personalized experience mostly with applications and websites. Interfaces will become each day more common in the everyday activities and they will be more intuitive, “smart” and accessible. The technology advances will allow companies to test their products when users are interacting with them, it will be useful data that create each person’s description and characteristics, as a result, the experience will be adapted to the user needs.

4. Security

AI and virtual reality are clear examples on how technology is evolving to open new UX needs. While new possibilities are opening to smart homes, advanced cars, and medical devices; the experience that each user gets will need to be developed hand by hand with the evolution of these. Security is the base of each new release or new technology coming to the market; procedures that before were long and expensive will now be tested since the creation of each service/product. This will make a faster launch and a safer one.

5. Valuable

The value of a product mostly will be defined by the user and the experience he/she had. How they feel when using the product and if it is well designed, the user won’t even notice the impact that it has in their lives. When making a good UX designed product, usually the result becomes valuable to any company/service or the user itself. Generating a good feeling about a need that they might or might not know before using the new product/service.

Takeaway

The combination of various technologies and human abilities enables us to create a more adequate user experience. It is always evolving and re-evaluating itself to make more assertive products and build a better future.
