In order to promote innovation among employees and encourage their involvement in improving the In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) division, Thales organized a Hackathon combined with a series of conferences on innovation and design thinking. All employees could register for the hackathon in teams of 2 to 10 people or choose to only attend the conferences. Due to the health situation caused by COVID-19, the event was held online and was made available not only in North America, but also in Europe and India, which was a first for them.
In addition to organizing the events, virtual meeting places and facilitating the teams in the generation of innovations, a design thinking guide was prepared including various canvases to help participants structure their ideas to design a solid innovation.
